The wicks we use are natural whisper & crackling wicks which are sourced from FSC-certified mills. All cracking wicks produce a relaxing ambiance similar to a fireplace and provide a beautiful horizontal flame shape.

If wicks are untrimmed, the candle will burn at a faster and hotter rate. When the wick remains untrimmed, it is more likely that your candle melt pool will be uneven. For best results, use a wick trimmer to ensure the wax is being drawn up the wick evenly for an optimal burn.

Candle memory refers to how a candle burns and how the wax melts after its first lighting. During the first burn, the candle sets a “memory” for subsequent burns. This initial burn establishes the foundation for how the rest of the candle will melt.

Candle tunneling is a common issue where a candle burns down the middle, leaving a ring of unburned wax around the edges. Imagine a candle with a hollow tunnel inside, while the outer wax remains untouched. This phenomenon occurs due to improper candle memory establishment during the initial burn. When a candle tunnels, it affects both aesthetics and burn time, wasting precious wax.

Establish a proper first burn by following the one hour for each inch of candle diameter guideline; trim your wick and avoid drafty areas.

Place the candle in the oven at 175°F (79°C) for about 5 minutes. This helps melt the wax and correct any minor tunneling.

To ensure that your candle burns evenly, follow these three basic principles: trim, center, and wait.

Trim your wick to 1/8" inch before each burn to ensure that your candle burns a little longer and safer. Center your wick to allow for frictionless fragrance throw. Relax and wait until your candle is fully melted before blowing it out.

The first time you burn your candle, make sure to wait at least 3-4 hours (large candles) or until the wax pool liquefies to the edge of your glass. Once the wax pool is completely melted on the top, then you can blow out your candle. This is the most critical step because if you blow out a candle too quickly, the wax has “memory” and will stay in this position for the length of your burn.

A good rule of thumb is to burn the candle one hour for every inch of diameter of the vessel

If your candle isn’t burning properly, there could be several reasons.

First, make sure that you are following the basic candle care principles mentioned in this FAQ. If you are still having issues, try trimming your wick to 1/8" inch before each burn. If your candle is
still not burning properly, try moving it to a draft-free location.

Once you are finished with your candle, you can repurpose the vessel.

Place the vessel in a freezer for a few hours and use a butter knife or similar instrument to pop out the hardened wax. The vintage etched-glass vessels have their wick base hot glued to enable a quick & clean removal.

Here are some helpful safety reminders to make the most of your burn:

Trim the wick before each use to avoid high flame.

Keep the candle within sight at all times.

Keep the candle away from children, pets, flammables, or anything that can catch fire.

Do not burn the candle near drafts or flammable materials.

When a candle burns down to less than ½ an inch, extinguish it and do not use it again.

If you don’t stop using a candle before there’s no wax left, heat from the direct flame could burn against the metal wick tab or the bottom of the container. You could end up cracking the container and damaging anything near the candle.
